This mahogany brown hair dye (5.5) is a cool colour that's often described as purple. Next to the red colours we offer, it's one of the most striking colours in our assortment. It's a very loved colour here at WECOLOUR. It looks good on both young and old!

Characteristics of a cool hair colour

A colour will bring up the same tones in your face as the tones that are in your hair. Cool hair colours bring out your eyebrows or freckles, and they can make your eyes look brighter. Cool hair colours look good on people with a 'cold' type, like the summer and winter type.

What's so special about WECOLOUR mahogany brown hair dye?

Our hair dye is of professional quality, especially designed to use at home. The pigment in the dye keeps your hair colour beautiful for longer. This means that when you touch up your roots it is not necessary to dye over all your hair every time.
Our goal is to keep the dye as pure as possible: it contains no ammonia and PPD (but it does contain TDS). That makes our hair colour much better and gentler for your hair and scalp than the regular drug store hair dye.
The 6% hydrogen peroxide developer ensures good coverage on grey hair. It also makes it possible to dye your hair one to two shades lighter than it naturally is.
The hair dye has a neutral smell, doesn't sting and is easy to remove from your skin.
Do you need only half a tube to dye your hair? (Unmixed) WECOLOUR colour cream has a shelf life of twelve months after opening.

Ingredients

The mahogany brown colour cream contains the following ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Cetearyl Alcohol, Propylene Glycol, Ethanolamine, Ceteareth-30, Synthetic beeswax, 4-Amino-2-Hydroxytoluene, Polyquaternium-22, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, 4-Amino-M-Cresol, Toluene-2,5-Diamine Sulfate, Decyl Oleate, Sodium Sulfite, P-Aminophenol, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Hydrosulfite, 4-Chlororesorcinol, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract.

The developer contains the following ingredients:
Aqua (Water), Hydrogen Peroxide, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lauryl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Ceteareth-30, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Parfum (Fragrance), Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Etidronic Acid, Oxyquinoline Sulfate, Tetrasodium EDTA.

Please note that this hair dye does not contain PPD but does contain TDS. If you are allergic to PPD, always apply for a tester first.

Advice for this colour

This mahogany colour (5.5) has full coverage on hair that is less than 75% grey. If your hair is (almost) fully grey, you may want to use a natural shade such as the brown (5.0) or dark brown (3.0) instead. You could also mix 2/3rds of the mahogany brown (5.5) with 1/3rd of the brown (5.0) for better coverage.

The ligher your hair before you dye it, the brighter the colours will look when dyeing it. So, if you're blonde or a little grey (or if you have highlights), mix with the 5.0 or 6.0 to prevent the colour from being too bright or test it on a little strand before going all-in. Is the mahogany brown (5.5) a little too dark for you? Mix it with the light brown (6.0) to make it lighter. Is your hair difficult to dye? Pick a darker tint, the mahogany red brown (4.65). This, unlike the mahogany brown (5.5), is a warm colour which means it will have a little better coverage and have more red pigments added to it.

Advice with picking a colour

The result always depends on the colour and structure of your hair before you dye it. If you have dry, porous or fine hair, you should probably take a dye lighter than the colour you actually want. Your hair will absorb more pigment from the dye, making your end results darker than they should be. It's better to dye your hair too light than too dark, because you can't dye dark hair back! If you have doubts between two colours, pick the lighter colour. Are the end results too light? You can always dye it to a darker colour right away without damaging your hair with WECOLOUR dye.

How much dye do you need?

Short, thin hair or just the roots: less than one package (one tube mixed with developer)
Hair until your shoulders: one package (one tube mixed with developer)
Thick or longer hair: two packages (tube mixed with developer)
Very thick, long hair: three packages (tube mixed with developer)

Make sure to have enough dye. There's nothing more annoying than running out of dye in the middle of dyeing your hair. Also don't mix too much dye at once, you can always make more. If you have leftover (unmixed) dye, that's no problem. WECOLOUR colour cream has a shelf life of 12 months after opening.
