You know the drill, you dyed your hair last week and now the colour already seems to be fading. Luckily, here are 6 simple tips to help you keep your hair colour looking great.
- Always use a conditioner after dyeing your hair. A conditioner ensures that the hair cuticles opened by the dye are closed again. This will make your colour last longer. If you really want to do it right, choose a conditioner with a PH value between 3.5 and 5.5. This most closely resembles the natural PH value of hair, making it less damaged. This keeps the hair healthy and healthy hair, holds the colour better. So win-win!
- Use an SLS-free shampoo. SLS is a non-natural substance that makes your shampoo foam. Lovely, of course, all that foam, but not for your hair and scalp. It is very aggressive and dries out your hair and scalp. Moreover, sulphate penetrates the pigment in your hair, easily affecting the colour of your dyed locks.
- Healthy hair retains pigment longer. So it is critical to keep your hair healthy if you don't want your colour to fade quickly. That is why we always recommend only really dyeing your outgrowth. You can freshen up the rest of your hair by mixing the dye with 1/3 water. You then apply this to your already dyed strands. The result is that it does refresh the colour while putting much less strain on your hair. And because you use less dye, it also saves money :).
- Handle the sun wisely. Too much sun will cause the colour of your dyed locks to deteriorate quickly. Do you still like to sunbathe? Then pamper your hair with our Argan Silk. This lightweight cream contains a UV filter that protects your hair from the sun's harmful rays. Or buy a cute sun hat. Totally hip and your hair will thank you forever!
- The other culprit is chlorine. If you are a real water rat, a swimming cap is a good idea. Maybe not so sexy, but effective if you want to preserve your hair colour. Of course, keeping your head above water and putting your hair in a bun is also a suitable option.
- Finally, get a haircut before you dye your hair. This is because dead ends cannot absorb pigment as easily. As a result, the colour in your ends may fade much faster than at the roots. Prevent this colour fade by cutting your dead ends (or having them cut) before you dye.
And remember the most important thing: healthy hair absorbs pigment better. So treat your hair with love. Do not wash it more often than necessary, do not use too many harmful styling products, and be careful with your hairdryer and straightener.
