Do you have fine hair and worry that dyeing will damage your hair a lot? First, let's explain the definition of fine hair. This is because fine hair is often confused with little hair. Fine hair is one hair thinner than the average (about 0.06 mm). This makes your bush look less full, while you can still have a lot of hair on your head. Do you have little hair on your head? Then you can often clearly see the scalp; you have less hair per square centimetre. So it does not mean that if you have little hair, it is also thin or vice versa.
There are several factors that cause fine/little (or thin) hair. For instance, it can be hereditary. Little can be done about this. But also, due to poor nutrition and an unhealthy lifestyle, hair can break off faster and grow slower. Iron, vitamin B and zinc, in particular, make for strong hair. Although you get numerous vitamins from sunlight, it is advisable to protect your fine hair (just like your skin) from the sun's rays. You do this by applying a protective product to your hair or by wearing a hat or cap. Our Argan Silk also contains UV filters and protects your hair from the sun. Actually, this does not only apply to fine hair, every hair needs to be protected from the sun.
Combing wet hair can make your hair look less full. By combing wet hair, you damage it, making it break off faster. So comb it only when it is dry. Blow-dryers or straighteners also damage hair. So always use a protective spray when styling your hair. Again, our Argan Silk can help as this serum contains heat protectors. By the way, never use hot tongs on wet hair as you will burn it.
Lack of sleep, stress, medication or illness are all causes of thinning hair. If you suffer a lot of hair loss, visit your doctor.
Hair dyeing and bleaching can weaken or damage hair, making it break off faster. Of course, dyeing and bleaching remains a chemical process. Therefore, use a professional product that minimises damage to your hair. WECOLOUR hair colour is as pure as possible. We have replaced many harmful substances so that our hair colour puts less strain on your hair. As a result, your hair is not damaged but even given a natural shine. The dye also causes the hair shaft to expand a bit, making the hair a bit 'thicker'. Ideal for fine hair. WECOLOUR bleaching, provided you apply it in the right way, is also a lot less stressful than regular bleaching you buy at the drug store.
OK, so fine hair is fine to dye and bleach with WECOLOUR, but make sure you don't choose a colour that is too dark or too light. Your hair will look thinner when the light shines through it, and the contrast with the colour of the scalp will also make it look thinner. So if you have a light scalp, don't take a dark hair colour and vice versa. Fine (or porous) hair does suck up the colour extra and a colour can end up darker than you actually want. If you have fine hair, and it is also damaged, choose a lighter colour and add Colour Mask to the dye. This moisturises and protects your hair and scalp during dyeing.
Furthermore, make sure the roots are slightly darker than the rest of your hair. This will make it look fuller. Don't want too big a change? Then opt for highlights. That way, there is a bit more 'movement' in your hair. Add some lowlights (dark strands) as well and there is even more depth to your hair, making it look fuller. In short, you can dye and blonde your fine hair, but never go too dark or too light. And preferably take high- and/or lowlights.
Don't wash your hair too much, and preferably with a shampoo without SLS. SLS is the chemical that makes your shampoo foam, but it is very aggressive for your hair and scalp. Using conditioner is also sometimes not recommended. Conditioner can weigh hair down, making it look thinner. Do you want a conditioner anyway? Then apply it only in the ends and not too much. Make sure you also use a conditioner without parabens. Want an all-natural cleanse that also conditions your hair? Then try our Dark Bamboo. This treatment gives a lot of volume, making it look fuller.
When you have washed your hair, pat and squeeze it dry with a towel. Rubbing it dry can damage fine hair. Especially when hair is wet, it is fragile. It is best to let your hair air dry. If you still want to blow-dry it, set the hair dryer on the coolest setting. Bend your head forward while blow-drying to create more volume. Finally, use our Volume Mousse to style your hair for a voluminous or natural look. And dyeing or bleaching is definitely an option.
