How your hair can make you look younger

How your hair can make you look younger

Once you get into your fourties, you'll eventually have to admit that what used to look good on you doesn't look as good anymore. Your hair, but also your skin and skin tone change as you get older. Your skin often turns a little lighter and the colour in your skin will be less uniform. Sometimes your hair gets a little thinner and dryer and will look less elastic. So do you want to do something else with your hair, but don't know where to start, this blog with tips can help you out.

From long to short(er)

Long, unhealthy hair can make you look a lot older. You'll have to take really good care of it if you want to keep looking good with long hair. It usually takes more effort to keep your hair looking good and healthy. That's because your hair will get drier as you get older. Maybe consider getting a shorter coupe, which will give your hair a big boost! It doesn't have to be a pixie cut! You can just get it to a mid-length hairdo if you want to. Use our Argan Silk to take care of your hair. It will make your hair shine, it gives your hair volume and it hydrates your hair. The Argan Silk is € 11.50, but in combination with another product the price gets reduced to € 10.35.

Get an angled bob

Get an angled bob for example, it's a perfect haircut to create movement and to frame your face well. An angled bob is a bob that's a little longer in the front and gets shorter in the back. The front strands are longest. They should get to your jawline for the best effect. With our Volume Mousse you can give volume to your bob and make sure it stays in shape well.

Bangs

Ever thought of getting bangs? Bangs that aren't too short can be really great. Don't wear it straight forward, but rather more loose and to the sides. Shorter strands frame your face and bring attention to your eyes. Another little advantage: wrinkles on your forehead won't be as visible.

Not that tight!

Don't pull your hair back really tightly, but get a looser low ponytail, or with the ponytail to the front, over your shoulders. Or a softer pulled back coupe with a few loose strands! This is especially handy on bad hair days. There are women that do pull their hair back really tightly because if gives a sort of natural facelift effect; your skin gets pulled back. Don't do this! Your hair breaks because of the constant pressure and you can even damage the hair follicles in a way that can't be restored, which means less hair will grow on your head.

A lighter hair colour

Pick a lighter hair colour than your natural hair colour. This is especially true for women with black or dark(brown) hair. Darker colours often look harsher and accentuate the shadows in your face, which brings extra attention to wrinkles and lines in your face. Don't wanna go light right away? Try highlights around your face first, this has the same effect. In the blog: How to get a good coverage on grey hair you'll learn how to succesfully dye grey hair. If you have doubts about which colour to pick, do this test.

But not too much (solid) blonde

Lighter, but not too light. With light (bleached) hair there's the risk of not having enough contrast between your hair and skin. Your face will fade away in stead of pop. Take a darker base with lighter colours in the lengths instead. You could also create lowlights, meaning you only dye strands of blonde/grey hair a darker colour. Ash blonde (8.1) is perfect for this.

A colour with depth

Don't pick a colour that looks like a solid, massive colour. This makes it look like you have less hair and removes the movement you want in your hair. Pick a colour that still shows the natural hues, such as WECOLOUR hair dye. This creates a softer, more natural effect and makes you hair look more volumous. Eventual root outgrowth is also less visible.

Avoid strict styling

We already mentioned pulling your hair back very tighly. Another thing that looks strict, and therefore makes you look older, is a sleek parting in the middle. It's best to avoid it, together with using a straightener. Very straight hair makes you look older as well. When you're styling your hair, make sure you don't straighten the ends, but rather curl it to the inside for example.

Who knows, there might be a tip that works for you so you'll be able to look years younger with your new hair!
