Removing hair dye from your skin

The best way to prevent hair dye from staining your skin is to directly wipe it off while dyeing. If you have some stains on your forehead or ears afterwards, you can remove this with butter or a nice scrub. Some people use more agressive ways, such as acetone, but with WECOLOUR hair dye this is definitely not needed.

How to prevent having to remove hair dye from your skin

When you work very accurately and immediately remove the dye from your skin when it lands, you'll rarely get stains. However, this can be difficult and there's a possibility you spill some dye on places you don't see. In that case make sure that you, after applying the dye to your hair, directly try to see if there's any dye on your ears, temples, neck or face. You can remove these stains with an (old) wash cloth or with cotton wool you can throw away later. If you remove it directly after dyeing, it won't be noticeable at all afterwards. This is the best way, but sometimes you mess up and have to do it another way.

Removing hair dye from your forehead and ears

When you've mixed colourcream with developer and the colour of the mixture is already dark you have to pay extra attention. If the colour is still bright, it's probably easy to remove after rinsing out the dye. If the mixture is darker than your scalp, you could get stains that don't match your skin tone. You'll want to remove these. There are several methods to so this. We'll start with the mildest and most natural method. This one fits our hair dye well:

  1. If there's dye on your forehead, massage it with a bit of warm water before rinsing it out. This will prevent most stains.
  2. You can apply a bit of butter on the places where the colour has stained your skin and massage this gently. You'll see the colour dissapear.
  3. Get a little bit of a face scrub and gently rub this on the places where the dye is stained. After rinsing it off you'll see that the colour is gone.
  4. If you don't have any face scrub, you could mix a bit of coconut oil together with sea salt. Just like the previous step, massage this gently and the colour will dissapear.
  5. If you smoke and have some leftover ashes, you can also use these. Just apply the ashes to the stained skin and rub it in. The colour will be gone after rinsing it off.
  6. Acetone will also get the colour to disappear, you can use it to remove the colour from your skin.

These were all the things you can use to remove the colour from your skin. For more personal advice you can always contact us and we'll help you to the best of our capability.
