After opening, the hair dye and developer from WECOLOUR both have a shelf life of twelve months. Once they have been mixed you can not save it for another time.
You can store WECOLOUR hair dye for a whole year in the original packaging. However, if the developer and colourcream have been mixed, you can not save it anymore. The pigments in the dye stop working after an hour. This is the reason why, once you've mixed the developer and colour together, you need to apply it to your hair immediately. In short, you can save the colour for one year, meaning you can use one tube multiple times, after it has been opened but not if it has been mixed already!
You may wonder why someone wouldn't just use the entire tube. The reason for this is that not everyone needs a whole tube. For example, if you mix two colours together, only dye your roots or just have short hair, a whole tube is simply too much. Luckily, you can save WECOLOUR hair dye for a whole year after opening! You can use the tube more than once and won't waste the product. It also saves you money and that's what we like to see.
All of our colours are mixable. Most of our colours come with a developer with 6% hydrogen peroxide. The only exception is the 11.1 (very light ash blonde). The 11.1 a colour that can lighten up the hair up to three colour levels instead of two and comes with a developer with 9% hydrogen peroxide. Because of the difference in hydrogen peroxide, we advise you not to mix the 11.1 with others, or to use the 6% developer for the 11.1 if you do want to mix it. It's also possible to mix multiple colours together, every combination is possible! Most of the time when you mix equal parts of different colours together, the result will be one the colour that's just in the middle.
Why would you mix hair dye yourself? Well, maybe you want to give your hair a warm hue, but you're scared that using only a red tone will turn out way too bright. Or maybe you want to get the best possible coverage for grey hair. If you want this, the best option would be a neutral (ending with .0) or a golden colour (colours that end with .3). By mixing this with a colour that ends with .1, you will get an ashy hue, or .4 and .7 for warmer hue. You can also choose to mix different parts together instead of equal parts. This allowes one of the colours to be more prominent.
Make your order at WECOLOUR even more sustainable and budget-friendly with the eco package. Our eco package includes four tubes of colour cream of your choice and four bottles of activator. This way, you’ll have enough hair dye at home for the coming months.
