The difference between WECOLOUR hair dye and henna

The big difference between WECOLOUR hair dye and henna is that (100%) natural henna is a real natural product and WECOLOUR dye as pure as possible. WECOLOUR hair dye does contain pigment and has to be mixed with hydrogen peroxide (activator). Another important difference is that WECOLOUR hair dye does have grey coverage while henna does not. In addition, henna is not available in ash shades.

What is henna?

When thinking of hair dyes as natural as possible, many people immediately think of henna, the red dye you can decorate your body with and also dye your hair with. Henna comes from the henna bush. It is found in North Africa, the Near East and India. Henna is made up of a red colourant, which is why all hair dyes with henna have a red glow. And the longer you let henna soak in, the more intense the colour will become.

The difference

The big difference between WECOLOUR hair dye and henna is that henna is truly a natural product. WECOLOUR is as pure as possible, as far as possible with hair dye. That means you have to mix it with hydrogen peroxide and there is still a pigment in it. On the other hand, it does not contain resorcinol, ppd and ammonia, making it much gentler on your hair than the hair dyes you can buy at the drugstore. WECOLOUR hair dye comes in 44 different colours, from platinum blonde to black. It is grey-covering and can be used by anyone (unless you are allergic to TDS). Henna hair dye does not come in blonde and ash shades and does not cover grey hair. On grey hair, henna will always remain transparent or give off a light orange colour. One thing you should always pay extra attention to after colouring with henna is that you cannot simply colour it again with regular hair dye. If you dye henna with regular hair dye (which contains hydrogen peroxide), make sure there is at least three weeks in between. And you can only take a colour in the same colour level or darker. If you are still in doubt and want to colour with WECOLOUR now, take a strand of hair at the bottom first to see how your hair reacts to it. If the colour turns out as you would like, you can safely dye your hair.

Be careful with black henna

Dyeing your hair with henna is not harmful to your scalp or your health, just like decorating your hands, for example. With traditional henna, the rule is the longer you leave it on, the more intense the colour. This is mainly when decorating skin with henna, in which case you should leave it on for at least two to four hours. However, there is now also 'black henna' on the market and it is very dangerous. In this variant, PPD (pigment) has been added, making the henna much stronger and a more intense colour. The danger of this henna is that many people develop a PPD allergy and can suffer a very severe allergic reaction. You can recognise 'black henna' by its strong chemical smell and the fact that it gives off colour after only 15 minutes. So when getting a henna tattoo, always ask how long it needs to stay on, is it only thirty minutes? Then don't start, chances are you have chemical henna.

WECOLOUR hair dye

Our hair dye is as pure as possible, contains no unnecessary chemical ingredients and also has good grey coverage. Thats the big difference between WECOLOUR hair dye and henna. Have you ever had an allergic reaction to a product containing PPD, such as the wrong henna tattoo? If so, always do an allergy test first! This way, you can first check whether the dye is suitable for you before ordering.
