Winter types have cool skin, recognisable by the blue/pink undertone. Hair colours that look best on winter types are cool hair colours like an ash dark brown, brown, or ash brown. Warm hair colours are best avoided by winter types.
Winter types stand out because of their contrasts. There are two winter types. The so-called 'Snow White' type and the Southern European-looking winter type.
The 'Snow White' winter type can be recognised by its light skin with a distinctly cool bluish undertone. The hair forms a strong contrast and is often black to brown. Salt and pepper is also possible. The eyes are deep blue, green, brown or grey-blue but always cool in colour (so not olive green, for example).
The Southern European-looking winter type actually has brown skin all year round but always with cool undertones and light pink blushes. Think semi-skimmed milk (for cool types) instead of evaporated milk (warm types). Hair is dark blonde to dark brown or black. The eyes are cool in colour and can be brown, black-brown, green-brown or teal, steel blue, grey, grey-green or grey-blue. In any case, this type has contrasting eyes and eyebrows.
As a winter type, you are a cool type. Cool hair colours will therefore look great on you. Think black (1.0), ash dark brown (4.1), ash brown (5.1), brown (5.0) or mahogany brown (5.5). Warm colours are best avoided. They will accentuate imperfections and redness, while a cool colour keeps harmony in your face.
Demi Moore and Amanda Peet are well-known winter types. You recognise them by the clear contrast in their faces. Dark matt hair colours look best on them.
