Why you should mix your hair dye in a glass or plastic bowl

Dyeing your hair yourself is a breeze with our kit. But did you know that the type of bowl you use to mix your hair dye can significantly affect the final result? We are happy to explain why you should choose a glass or plastic bowl for mixing hair dye.

Why do you mix colour cream with activator?

You mix the WECOLOUR colour cream with the WECOLOUR activator. The activator ensures that the colour pigments in the colour cream are activated. Many hair dye products, especially those for permanent colours, contain a colourless base that only colours when it comes into contact with an oxidizing agent like hydrogen peroxide, which we call the activator. It also opens the hair cuticles, the outer layer of your hair. This helps the colour pigments to penetrate better and deeper into the hair, making the colour last longer and look more vibrant. Without hydrogen peroxide, the dye would adhere less effectively and fade more quickly.

Mix your hair dye in a glass or plastic bowl

Always choose a glass or plastic bowl to mix the hair dye. If you mix it in a metal bowl, it can cause a chemical reaction that can affect your hair colour. Glass and plastic bowls are safer because they do not react with the dye. This way, the colour remains as intended. Additionally, you can easily clean a glass or plastic dye bowl, so you can use it again for your next dyeing session. And remember, do not use a metal fork or spoon to mix the dye, but always use the provided hairdresser's brush. Don’t have any glass or plastic bowls at home? Then purchase our biodegradable dye mixing bowl. This bowl is reusable and can be used multiple times for mixing your hair dye.
